HOW TO PLACE YOUR CLASSIFIED AD

Placing your Classified Ad

Call (206) 622-8272 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Our classified sales representative will ask you the following questions:

  • Classification in which your ad is to appear
  • Date (s) your ad is to run
  • Complete text of your ad
  • Billing information and phone number

The following categories are available for classified advertising:

Note: Ads placed under the following require payment in advance: Work Wanted, Wanted, Services, Financial, Business Opportunities, and Personals. We do not accept 900 number advertisements.

Minimum charge is $10.00 per ad. Ads are read back for accuracy. However, check your ad on the first day of publication and call if there are any errors.


Classified Line Ad Rates:
    4 days or less, $2.75 per line/per day (one line is about 23 characters)
    6 days for the price of 5, $2.75 per line/per day
    13 days for the price of 10, $2.75 per line/per day
Ads running more than 20 days receive a rate of $2.00 per line, per day.

Classified-Display ad:
Classified ad with border, logo or small piece of artwork. Logos/artwork can be emailed to our Classifieds Department.

Classified Display Ad Rates:
$22.00 per column inch/per day, 1 inch minimum.

Deadline:
2:00 pm the day before the publication.
(11:00 am Thursday for Saturday start date)

Publishing:
Classifieds are published Monday through Saturday.

Online Classifieds:
Classifieds are published online at djc.com

Payments:
Check can be made payable to the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce. For your convenience we accept VISA, MASTERCARD, and AMEX.

Placing a Blind Box Ad:
Blind box advertisements are ads which direct persons to send their replies to a Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce assigned mailbox number called the Advertiser #. Replies can either be mailed to the advertiser or picked up in person.

Rates for Blind Box:
Free if picked up in person, $20.00 if mailed. Replies may be picked up at our office between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. Monday through Friday. Replies are held for 30 days after expiration of advertisement.

Responding to a DJC Blind Box Ad:
Address envelope as follows; fill in box number and mail to:

        c/o Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce
        P.O. Box 11050
        Seattle, WA 98111

We will not reveal the identity of a box holder. But if you wish to reply to a box number and NOT have your letter sent to certain firms, then: (A) Reply with your sealed letter to the box numbers; (B) attach a note listing which firms are NOT to receive your letter; and (C) send every thing in ANOTHER ENVELOPE addressed to the DJC. If the advertiser is among the names you don't want to contact, we will destroy your sealed letter. Letters only please; no phone calls.

Statewide Classified Program:
Reach nearly 2.7 million readers with a one-time classified ad in 97 newspapers and 24 total-market-coverage (shopper) publications. Ads run on a co-op arrangement with Washington Newspaper Publishers Association. Placing your ad in the statewide program includes a week run in the DJC. Total cost is $275.00 for 25 words, plus $10.00 per word after the first 25 words. Deadline to submit ads for the statewide program is Monday at noon. The ad will then start publication statewide the following Monday. Call for further details.

Notice to Advertisers:
It is unlawful to directly or indirectly advertise or in any way indicate or publicize that patronage or employment of persons or any creed, color, sex, national origin, marital status or disability are unwelcome, objectionable, not acceptable or not solicited. The Daily Journal of Commerce will not knowingly accept any employment advertising, which is in violation of the law. (01/02)
