Take time and training to polish your business skills

Many people who work in business development have had no formal training in client contact or communication skills. They are often project managers who enjoy contacting people and seeking opportunities to write proposals.
When promoted to associate or principal, the frequent expectation is that they will also “market the firm” and be informal business developers.
