When you visit the new, expanded Seattle Art Museum, you will be forgiven if you can't quite decide when you've arrived. There they stand: two generations of architecture in respectful attention.
The front door still seems to be at the corner of First and University, under “Hammering Man.” At the opening this month, crowds lined up on the monumental University Street steps. The grand four-story entry where tickets were sold and coats were checked is still there, dominated by the grand inside-outside staircase and landings.
