The Edmonds office of Landau Associates promoted Allan Barton to GIS analyst and Eric Zick to CAD/GIS technician, Steven Shaw to project geologist, Chad McMullen to senior engineer and Kenneth Reid to senior geologist. The Tacoma office promoted Benjamin Lee to senior staff engineer. In Portland Heather Nielsen was promoted to project geologist and Erin Waibel to assistant geologist. Barton does cartographic production and geographic data analysis. Zick communicates with internal clients. Shaw specializes in sediment characterization and remediation. McMullen works in the geotechnical group. Reid develops and manages complex site investigations and trains junior staff. Lee does groundwater flow modeling and hydrogeologic field work. Nielsen does environmental due diligence, including hazardous building materials surveys. Waibel does environmental site assessments and operations, and maintenance support on remediation projects. Edmonds-based Landau Associates provides geotechnical and environmental engineering, remediation, permitting and compliance services.

Butters

Lochner hired Aaron Butters and Mark Burrus as senior project managers in the Bellevue office. Butters will work with local agency clients on program management, federal aid and funding advisory services. Butters was with the Washington State Department of Transportation for 30 years in program development and program management. Burrus leads transportation engineering projects at Lochner and growth initiatives in the Northwest region. He also mentors junior engineers on project management and complex projects. Burrus has 16 years of experience in transportation design. Chicago-based Lochner is a transportation and infrastructure company, with offices across the United States, including in Bellevue and Lacey.

Jacobs Associates

Smith

Jacobs Associates promoted Rick Smith to senior associate in Seattle. Smith has 27 years of geotechnical engineering experience for heavy civil design and construction. He has worked on underground projects in Seattle, including the Brightwater conveyance system and University Link Light Rail. He is working on the Rainier Valley wet weather storage project in Seattle. Jacobs Associates provides services for underground projects and in water, wastewater and transportation sectors, with offices in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Parsons

Parsons named Michael Cotten senior project manager in the Seattle office. He is an engineer and will focus on large infrastructure projects in the Northwest. Cotten worked with Washington State Department of Transportation for 30 years, most recently as assistant regional administrator for the Northwest. He worked on highway projects in King and Snohomish counties, and Link light rail. Parsons works in the engineering, construction, technical and professional services industries.

Bumgardner, a Seattle-based architecture and design firm, hired Thomas Hemba as a project manager and Arnulfo Ramirez, Fredrika Witt and Gabriele Mezzato as architectural interns. Hemba worked in Germany on international high-rise hospitality projects. He spent 10-plus years at Mithun, working on mixed-use housing and student housing. His projects now include a residential high-rise in Seattle. Ramirez holds a master of architecture degree from the University of Washington. He is assisting with construction administration for The Angeline, a mixed-use project in Columbia City. Witt holds a bachelor's in architecture from Georgia Institute of Technology and a master of architecture degree from the University of Oregon. She has three years of experience as an intern architect. Mezzato has seven years of experience in residential, commercial and industrial projects in Italy. He is working on a Seattle high-rise.

Moore

Sparling hired two computer-aided drafting professionals, Colin Moore and Bau Phan, in its Lynnwood office and administrative assistant Debbie Hanson in Portland. Moore has five years of computer drafting and design experience, and is in Sparling's electrical practice. He is working on tenant improvements for Seattle Genetics Building 4 — Phase 1B and data center projects. Phan has four years of experience in electrical design. He is working on Amazon Block 52 and Sea-Tac Airport's North Satellite renovation. Hanson has 14 years of administrative experience, including with engineering and construction firms. Sparling provides electrical engineering, technology and audiovisual consulting, acoustical and lighting design, with offices in Washington, Oregon and California.

HKP Architects

Christine Baldwin joined HKP Architects as an intern architect, where she has contributed to work for Edmonds School District and the Swinomish Social Services Building remodel. Baldwin has promoted HKP's recent expansion into Seattle. She holds a bachelor of architecture degree from California Polytechnic State University and studied at Dessau Institute of Architecture in Germany. HKP is an architecture and design firm, with an office also in Mount Vernon.

Sazan Group hired Robert Grzan as a senior electrical engineer to work on health care, labs, K-12 and higher education projects. He has 23 years of experience in electrical systems planning, design and construction administration. Sazan provides mechanical, electrical and data/telecom services, with offices in Seattle and Portland.

Icicle Creek Engineers hired Sunny Baines as marketing/office manager. Baines has seven years of experience in architecture, engineering and construction and was treasurer for the Society for Marketing Professional Services Seattle chapter for four years. ICE is a geotechnical, geologic, hydrogeologic, and environmental services company.
