Foss

HOK named Anton Foss managing principal in Seattle and San Francisco. Foss is a senior vice president, and was a regional leader of the sports, recreation and entertainment practice in San Francisco. He joined HOK in January when it acquired 360 Architecture. Foss has nearly 30 years of planning, design and management experience. He has led sports, recreation, entertainment, corporate, health care, education, mixed-use and residential projects. In Seattle, Foss has had a leadership role in the proposed NBA/NHL arena and the Husky Stadium expansion. HOK provides architecture, engineering and planning, with 25 offices worldwide.

In the Federal Way office, ESM Consulting Engineers promoted Evan Mann to senior land planner and hired Kerri O'Connor as assistant planner/GIS specialist and Chad Curkendall as an engineer I. Dean Jenson is the new survey crew chief in Everett. Mann has nearly 10 years of experience managing residential, commercial and industrial developments in the Puget Sound region. O'Connor has six years of experience as a geospatial and signal intelligence analyst for the Army and the federal government. She was a GIS and data systems analyst intern for the city of Tacoma and Puget Sound Regional Council. Curkendall holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from the University of Washington.

OAC hired Brad Rock as a senior project manager and Eric Smith as regional director, and promoted Houman Nabavi to project manager in the construction management practice group. Rock has 10 years of construction management experience. He will manage office, health care and high tech projects. Smith has 38 years of experience in the construction industry as an owner, builder and consultant, and has worked in public, not-for-profit and private development. He will lead development in OAC's Silicon Valley and Bay Area markets and assist the alternative project delivery practice group in the Northwest. Nabavi has worked in construction and real estate for more than a decade. He has project planning, design, and construction experience for office, lab, industrial/manufacturing and housing projects. Rock and Nabavi work in the Seattle office, and Smith in San Jose.

Kevin M. Kudo-King has become an owner of Olson Kundig. He joined the Seattle firm 19 years ago as an intern architect, and became an associate in 2004 and a principal in 2010. He works on houses, museums, resorts, and mixed-use and institutional projects. He led design of Tacoma Art Museum's Haub Gallery with fellow firm owners Tom Kundig and Kirsten R. Murray, and played a significant role on Bellevue Botanical Garden's Visitor Center, working with owner Jim Olson. His projects have received Chicago Athenaeum's American Architecture Award and National AIA Honor Awards. Kudo-King also oversees marketing and business development.

In Seattle, global design firm B+H Architects hired Christa Clark Jansen as a senior interior designer and Emily Kelly as office manager. Jansen has 18 years of experience on hospitality, retail, offices and public spaces. Her projects have included retail repositionings, renovations, expansions and tenant improvements, for clients such as Microsoft and Alaska Airlines. Kelly has experience in marketing, office administration and customer service.

Mard Mehdiabadi is focusing on senior living and community projects. She has a bachelor's in architecture from the University of Washington and a master's in architecture from the University of Michigan. Groves has over 10 years of experience and will do hospitality and senior living projects. Limson Cole is an architect with over 20 years of experience in retail and multifamily design. She will do senior housing. Mukavetz has over 25 years of architectural experience and will work on senior projects. Morgan has 15 years of experience as an architect, health care designer and project manager, and will work on health care projects. Bremerton-based Rice Fergus Miller is an architecture, interior design and planning firm.

Vela

Julio Vela and Greg Landau rejoined the Portland office of GeoEngineers as a geotechnical principal and senior geotechnical engineer, respectively. They will spearhead geotechnical engineering projects in Oregon and Washington. Vela will open a satellite office in Salem. Vela has over 19 years of geotechnical engineering experience in the Northwest, including 14 years with another engineering firm. He has worked on high-rises, roads, bridges, highways and public works. Landau has over 16 years of geotechnical experience on bridges, roadways, dams, waterfront structures, landfills, public utilities and development projects in Oregon. GeoEngineers is an earth science, engineering and technology consulting firm with 14 U.S. offices.
