Catherine Benotto, Weber Thompson's landscape architecture principal for over 14 years, retired Sept. 15. Rachael Meyer is filling that position and leads the landscape architecture design studio for residential and office projects. Meyer has over 13 years of experience on residential, office, mixed-use and open space landscape designs. She was with Berger Partnership, where she was project manager for The Bullitt Center's Living Landscape and McGilvra Place Park. Benotto started at Weber Thompson in 2002, was promoted to principal in 2007, and helped build its portfolio of landscape architecture, urban planning and community design projects. She launched the Green Team, which incorporated sustainable features in many of the firm's projects, including The Terry Thomas, which won an AIA COTE Top 10 award. Seattle-based Weber Thompson provides architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and community/urban design.

In Seattle, Sazan Environmental Services hired Colby Cronn as an HVAC Test-Adjust-Balance technician. Cronn holds a bachelor's in communications and business from Eastern Washington University. Sazan Environmental Services, an affiliate of Sazan Group, provides MEP systems commissioning, building performance optimization, energy audits and HVAC Test-Adjust-Balance and construction services.

In Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Architects West hired Ryan Johnson as a project architect and Marissa Crosby as a CAD Technician. Also, the firm's Jared Smith recently completed his architectural intern development program through the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Johnson most recently owned Element Architecture in Coeur d'Alene. He has worked on custom homes, multifamily housing, professional offices and commercial buildings, including Coeur d'Alene Carousel. Crosby is a graduate of North Idaho College and worked for Element Architecture for two years. Smith has been with Architects West for nine years as a CAD technician, and is managing projects for Post Falls School District.

University Mechanical Contractors hired Troy Turpin as a project executive, Rachael LeCoump as a payroll coordinator, Derek LaMarche as a VCS coordinator and Aga Madetko as a fabrication coordinator. Turpin has over 16 years of construction industry experience. He returned to UMC after three years as an independent consultant. LeChamp was with a local commercial mechanical contractor and has experience in construction/project accounting. LaMarche holds a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Central Washington University. Madetko has a degree in computer science and experience managing businesses.

Seattle-based Quantum Consulting Engineers hired Mario Alvardo as a staff engineer. Alvarado has several years of experience on commercial and industrial projects, including airport hotels and sewer systems. Quantum provides structural, seismic and value engineering.

Spokane-based Bernardo|Wills Architects hired Julia Culp as a landscape architect. Culp has six years of experience. She is providing landscape planning, design and project management for Spokane's combined sewer overflow tank and plaza. Bernardo|Wills provides architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and master planning.

In Seattle, Fehr & Peers promoted Bob Sicko and Ariel Davis to associate. Sicko has been a senior engineer/planner with the firm. He has over 30 years of technical and policy experience in multi-modal travel demand modeling, transit forecasting, transportation planning and economic and demographic analysis. Davis holds a master's in transportation engineering from the University of Washington. She is operations manager in the Seattle office and manages projects with a focus on travel demand forecasting and environmental impact statements.

In Seattle, engineering design and consulting firm Mazzetti hired electrical engineer Jay Jack as an associate principal. Jack has provided electrical engineering services in the Puget Sound region for 32 years, focusing on commercial, health care and design-build markets. He was with Coffman Engineers, and founded and managed Cierra Electrical Group for 16 years. He will help Mazzetti expand in the region.

In Portland, Mackenzie hired Chris Blakney in a new position: senior economist. Blakney will analyze market trends and the economic feasibility of projects. He spent 12 years at Johnson Economics, but has done economic and regional analysis on projects with Mackenzie. Mackenzie provides architecture and interior design; structural, civil and traffic engineering; land use and transportation planning; and landscape architecture.

In Tacoma, AHBL hired Trevor McDonald as a project engineer. In Seattle, it hired Colin Poff as a land use planner. In Tri-Cities, it hired Caleb Stromstad as a civil project engineer. McDonald is an engineer in training and has three years of experience. He will work in the civil engineering division and assist on K-12 and other projects. Poff holds a master's in urban planning from the University of Washington and a bachelor's in political science from Western Washington University. He will work on Bellingham's LID code updates. Stromstad has four years of experience in civil design and engineering. He served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He will work on the Sunrise Ridge Road Plat in Richland. AHBL provides civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture, community planning and land surveying.

Andersen is an architect who focuses on community and hospitality project management. Flink is the graphic designer and oversees the VizLab. Haley is a designer on health care projects. Ritter-Lopatowski is a designer who focuses on hospitality and community projects. Pickering is an intern architect who works on senior living, community and residential projects. Rajpreeja is a technical designer who focuses on fire and emergency services, and community projects.

Schweiter has 10 years of experience in the environmental/geotechnical field and seven years assisting and managing local health and safety programs. Mehall has worked on site design and permitting for natural gas facilities. For Stantec, she works in the municipal water, wastewater and stormwater sectors. Palmer provides field data collection, construction inspection, civil 3D drafting/design, sewer and water designs, erosion and sediment control strategies, site concepts and layouts, and grading and drainage designs. Stantec provides consulting in planning, engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management and project economics.
