Want something to do this weekend? Hellooo Green Fest!

Friday, April 11th, 2008

So I know I should have told you before but this announcement will just have to do: there’s a huge, ginormous green fest this weekend at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center (P.S. the center recently issued an RFP for LEED certification. For more on that see the DJC here).

The Green Festival is a “celebration of what’s working in our communities - for people, for businesses and for the environment” according to its Web site here. The idea for the festival, put on by Global Exchange and Co-op America, is to bring together local and national green organizations. The festivals are in Chicago, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and this weekend, Seattle.

Seattle kicks of the series of festivals. Chicago’s is in May and Washington D.C., and San Francisco’s are in November.

In Seattle it runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. There’s a fair trade pavilion, a green home pavilion,  a music stage and a film festival.

Speakers include the internationally known Amory Lovins of the Rocky Mountain Institute, Jerome Ringo of the New Apollo Project and K.C. Golden of Climate Solutions.

For more information and specifics, visit the festival’s Web site at http://www.greenfestivals.org/content/view/767/390/ . Enjoy!
