Let's recall that, in their heyday, streetcars were so popular because the average person didn't drive, let alone have, a private car. Today the ratio of trolleys to private vehicles is markedly different. Given our already crowded arterials and low funding for street repairs, adding trolley tracks to the traffic doesn't make as much sense.</description>

		<description>Remember that a lot of the cost of the streetcar is rebuilding the streets, which in some cases are things we need to do anyway.

But yeah, it seems insane that we're talking about running a streetcar up Westlake after it seems like we just pulled the rails out a few years back...</description>
