Since 1974, Historical Research Associates, Inc. (HRA) has provided consulting services for public and private clients in cultural resource management, litigation support, and historical research. Our expertise enables clients to comply with Section 106 and Section 110 requirements of the National Historic Preservation Act and the National Environmental Policy Act as well as state legislation for cultural resource surveys and mitigation, and to meet regulations for historic preservation reports including National Register of Historic Places nominations. HRA has conducted many projects under requirements of National Park Service Cultural Resource Management (Director's Order 28). HRA is classified as a small business concern as defined under Subpart 19.1 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, with 17 archaeologists who meet the Secretary of the Interior’s qualifications in Prehistoric Archaeology (including one also qualified as a Historic Archaeologist), 23 historians who meet the qualifications in History, and three historians who meet the qualifications in Historic Architecture. HRA's services include archaeological and historical background research; inventory and resource recording; archaeological site and historical resources eligibility assessment/evaluation; data recovery mitigation; Historical American Building Survey/Historical American Engineering Record recording; artifact processing and analysis; tribal consultation; preparation of compliance reports; Unanticipated Discovery Plans; and site protection plans. Our field staff is experienced in the use of a variety of mapping techniques, including the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) units, laser rangefinders, theodolites, and total stations, as well as other recording equipment. HRA has the capability for seamless downloading into Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
