Remediation is a big driver in its success, with large clients such as Cadet Manufacturing ($12 million worth of work over last seven years), Portland Development Commission, Oregon Military Department, Intel, Time Oil, and Goodwill Industries. Founded in 1974 the Portland office services focus on environmental and water resources services. On staff are senior natural resources people, several wetlands experts, engineers, biologists, environmental managers and risk assessment professionals. “In 2002, we started a successful industrial hygiene practice, and now we do over half a million in revenue annually,” says Unit Manager John Kuiper. “We have also branched out into natural resources by leveraging the recent acquisition of Shapiro & Associates in Seattle.” Having a senior natural resources group located just a three-hour drive up the road has allowed them to hire several mid-level wetlands employees in Portland. The office also has engineers, geologists, biologists, and environmental management and risk assessment professionals on staff. The Portland office is recognized for its brownfields expertise, having won significant awards on projects, such as the downtown Union Station remediation in 2000 and Southwater Front Park in 2003. In 2003, the office also won ACEC Oregon’s Project of the Year Award for the design and construction of an innovative lake-algae skimmer. There are 75 employees working out of the Portland office. Together, they serve Oregon and southwest Washington. |
