Betts, Patterson & Mines added five new attorneys to the firm from Seattle University School of Law. Julia J. Busono is in the Intellectual Property group. She was a patent attorney with Seed IP Law Group and Lowe Graham Jones. Curtis Chambers focuses on insurance defense litigation and practiced at a Washington insurance defense firm. Ryan Edmondson is a member of the IP group, and focuses on patent and other intellectual property litigation. Lisa Lackland focuses on complex commercial litigation, product liability, professional liability, health care and intellectual property. She was a partner at Lewis and Roca in Las Vegas. Ryan Vollans focuses on complex civil litigation, including personal injury, insurance defense, medical malpractice and products liability.

TIAA-CREF

TIAA-CREF is opening an office in Seattle this week at 617 Eastlake Ave. E. and in Bellevue at 188 106th Avenue N.E., Suite 210. The financial services organization said in a press release it is expanding nationwide from 72 offices at the beginning of 2012 to more than 120 offices at the end of this year. TIAA-CREF has $840 billion in assets under management and provides retirement services in academic, medical and cultural fields.

Joe Slattery has been promoted to a newly created position: senior vice president, global marketing and sales for Holland America Line. He is a 21-year company veteran. Mark Kammerer is now vice president of international marketing and sales for Holland America Line and Seabourn, responsible for offices in the U.K., the Netherlands and Australia, as well as international business. He was responsible for marketing and North American sales.

Pierce County Workforce Development

Pierce County Workforce Development Council reappointed Eric Hahn, vice president of organizational development at General Plastics, for a third term as chairman. Scott Haas of ThyssenKrupp Aerospace is the new first vice chair and Joyce Conner of Volt Workforce Solutions is second vice chair.

Jordan Ramis said construction lawyer and mediator Roger A. Lenneberg has joined the firm as a shareholder in Portland, co-chairing the construction law team with shareholder John H. Baker. He worked in private practice, in-house counsel for a specialty contractor and as a mediator/arbitrator. Jordan Ramis and has offices in Oregon and Washington.

Seattle Pride named journalist Sarah Toce communications director and a member of the board of directors. The Seattle nonprofit focuses on community outreach and produces events such as the annual Seattle Pride Parade.

Redmond-based MediaAlpha named Michael Foster vice president, demand platform. He has over 10 years of experience in online advertising.

Liberty Upton has joined Helsell Fetterman as an associate attorney in the estate planning and taxation departments. She earned her law degree from Seattle University in 2013, and her master of laws in taxation from University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2014. Samuel Winninghoff has joined as an associate attorney in the litigation group. He got his law degree from Seattle University School of Law in 2013.

BakerHostetler said Gina Culbert has joined the firm in the Seattle office as an of counsel member of the intellectual property group. She comes from Merchant & Gould and has litigated commercial and intellectual property disputes in federal, state and local courts for more than 25 years.

Crista named Deborah (Deb) Limb executive vice president and COO for its family of ministries: Crists Media, Crista Senior Living, Crista Camps, King's Schools and Seattle Urban Academy. She worked at Boeing for 26 years and was director of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Structures Engineering.
