Skagit Bank has hired Ken Johnson as president and chief operating officer. Johnson has more than 30 years of banking experience, most recently as the East Region president of Chemical Financial Corp. in Midland, Michigan. He will oversee operations for Skagit Bank from its main office in Burlington. Skagit Bank provides commercial lending, business and personal banking services, with offices in Skagit, Snohomish, Whatcom and King counties.
Novinium said Mark Newton, Ph.D., is the new vice president of engineering, with over 20 years of experience in technology, research, operations, and corporate leadership. Newton spent more than 17 years at W.L. Gore & Associates working on Gore-Tex and other products. Novinium offers tech solutions to infrastructure problems designed to save energy and reduce greenhouse gases by extending the life of cable.

Lighthouse eDiscovery, a Seattle firm focused on ediscovery services and consulting, hired Maurice (Mo) Ramsey as general manager of consulting services. He was a senior director at CenturyLink and also worked at Slalom Consulting. Lighthouse prepares corporations for ediscovery and compliance.
Woodland Park Zoo won several awards from the Association of Zoos & Aquariums. Former Director David Towne won the highest award for professional excellence: the R. Marlin Perkins award. He was director from 1984 to 2000. Bruce Bohmke, acting president and CEO, won an award for his involvement with AZA programs.

KCTS 9 added new board members Larry Estrada and Glenn Wong. Estrada is a vice president in the Seattle office of Goldman Sachs. Wong, who is based in Vancouver, B.C., is founder of Catalyst Solutions.
U-Haul Co. of Washington said Uncle John's LLC signed on as a dealer in Buckley. Uncle John's at 26306 Highway 410 East will offer U-Haul trucks, towing equipment, support rental items and in-store pickup for boxes. Uncle John's owner is Wally Kempe.

Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce named Meadow Johnson senior vice president of government relations. She will lead policy and government activities, and work with private, public and nonprofit sectors. Johnson was deputy chief of staff to Seattle Mayor Ed Murray and was district director for U.S. Representative Derek Kilmer. She also worked for Gogerty Marriott.
Wells Fargo named Rock Steady Boxing Seattle one of 25 finalists in the Wells Fargo Works Project contest. More than 4,200 small businesses entered the national contest. Five grand prize winners will be selected to receive $25,000 and mentorship from a small business expert. Karen Johanson launched Rock Steady Boxing, an affiliate of Rock Steady Boxing, to help people with Parkinson's disease with fitness. Finalists get $1,000 from Wells Fargo.
Kent-based Novinium said Mike LaClair has returned as Northeast regional sales manager, responsible for direct sales of cable rehab products and services to the utility and industrial markets. LaClair has over 20 years of experience in sales management.
