Rules changing on temporary construction labor

    The concept of contractors employing temporary labor is nothing new. The up and down cycles inherent in the industry have traditionally made workers' employment subject to the whim of a contractor's volume of work. The challenge for contractors often became finding qualified temporary labor at the time and in the quantity needed.

    Over the past decade or so, companies specializing in providing temporary construction labor have become major players on our area's construction scene, helping alleviate those challenges for local contractors. Offering workers whose skill levels run the gamut from largely unskilled to master craftspersons, these companies have established themselves as important resources for their clients, by filling their manpower needs on short notice.
