Henry M. Jackson Park

Henry M. Jackson Park in Everett has gotten a $3 million renovation.

Four acres of the 15-acre park at 18th and State streets were updated with a new playground that has a net climbing structure and a "tot lot." Restrooms, a shelter, community gardens, basketball courts and pathways were added or improved.

The design combines natural and industrial materials such as stainless and galvanized steel, gabion walls filled with construction debris, and aluminum. A central plaza with pervious concrete walkways and motion-activated LED lighting is designed to honor Jackson, an Everett native who served as a U.S. senator for more than half a century.

Funding came from the state Recreation and Conservation Office, state Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Snohomish County Parks.
