UW professor helps develop bridge columns that ‘bounce back' from large earthquakes

    Pre-tensioned concrete columns were part of a mock bridge built atop three shake tables at the University of Nevada, Reno.

    In an earthquake, even the smallest amount of bridge damage can have a significant ripple effect on the local economy.
