The Spark

The Spark: Academic Innovation Hub is a new 83,000-square-foot digital classroom that opened this fall on Washington State University's Pullman campus.

The $43.4 million project was designed to encourage active learning and prepare students for the information-based economy. It features a variety of classroom types and movable furniture that appeal to different learning styles.

Located on the first floor is the classroom-in-the-round, a 275-seat classroom with a large, 360-degree screen at its center and technology that allows students to project content from their laptops onto the screen.

It has a cafe, lounge seating, a roof deck, a central commons with stadium style seating, skill development studios, tutoring spaces and faculty offices. Unassigned to any particular college, all students have access to the building and its resources.
