In Renton, city and schools are both getting into the act

  • Collaboration is giving the city and school district access to a top-notch performing arts center. IKEA has pledged $500,000 for the naming rights.

    With buildings, three things usually happen: they get torn down, renovated or built from scratch. In Renton, they get combined.

    A $4.8 million performing arts center will be located at Renton High School and shared with the city.

    Last year, the Renton School District and the city joined forces to build a new $4.8 million, 18,340-square-foot community performing arts center.
