Everett gives OK to $300M N. Marina

EVERETT — The Everett City Council's approval of a Port of Everett request clears the way for the $300 million North Marina redevelopment.

The council OK'd the request, 5-1, Wednesday. Port officials asked the city to allow them to construct buildings up to 65 feet tall on some parts of the 65-acre site. The limit is 55 feet.

The port and its development partner, Maritime Trust Co., are working to transform the industrial area into a pedestrian-friendly community of residences, offices, shops, restaurants and a marine-related crafts district.

The port goes before a hearing examiner Dec. 1 for its first shoreline permit. Officials hope to start construction this spring. Hoffman Construction is the project's general contractor/construction manager.
