Chile, Skagit Valley inspire zoo's new flamingo exhibit

The flamingo exhibit has a 6,000-gallon shallow pool, mud and dirt for nesting, and small structures mimicking the architectural style of the birds’ native Chiloe island.

Designers at the Woodland Park Zoo looked to the Skagit Valley for ideas when they were creating a habitat for more than 25 Chilean flamingos.
