Crews test conditions along route for tunnel

  • Engineers soon will survey about 300 properties to see if mitigation is needed before tunnel construction.

    Crews have been examining underground conditions along the route of the deep-bore tunnel that will replace the seismically vulnerable Alaskan Way Viaduct, and soon they'll begin examining the state of buildings at the surface.

    Preliminary drilling has been occurring, and more extensive boring starts today.
