Design changes eyed for tunnel

SEATTLE — The Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement team is considering new design options for the $1.9 billion bored tunnel alternative.

At the south end, the entrance to the state Route 99 tunnel could be moved a block west to Alaskan Way, reducing the impact on the historic Pioneer Square neighborhood.
