Instead of retiring, engineer finds new career: offshore wind power

The Glosten Associates of Seattle recently hired Hugh Townsend to work with its chairman, Bill Hurley, overseeing PelaStar, a floating platform for wind turbines in deep water.

Hugh Townsend left Everett-based Reid Middleton, a civil and structural engineering firm, near the end of 2010 expecting to enjoy his retirement.
