3 Seattle projects win AIA NW & Pacific awards

UW West Campus

Three Seattle projects won awards from the American Institute of Architects Northwest & Pacific Region.

The University of Washington West Campus phase one student housing received a citation award. It was designed by Mahlum.

King Street Station's restoration and renovation, designed by ZGF Architects, and the Bullitt Center's design by The Miller Hull Partnership were given special recognition.

Thirteen awards were given for projects — ranging from custom homes and schools, to art galleries and manufacturing plants — in the U.S., Canada, Japan and South Korea. There were 123 submittals.

King Street Station

Honor Awards went to Clyfford Still Museum in Denver, designed by Allied Works Architecture of Portland; and Hanil Visitors' Center and Guest House in Danyang-gun, South Korea, designed by BCHO Architects and Associates.

Merit Awards went to Bayview Library in San Francisco, designed by THA Architecture (with Karen Payson Architecture + Design as associate architect); Edith Green Wendell Wyatt Federal Building in Portland, designed by Cutler Anderson Architects; Sokol Blossser Winery Tasting Room in Dayton, Ore., designed by Allied Works Architecture; and YKK AP Saitama Mado Plant in Kuki-city, Japan, designed by Takenaka Corp.

Citations went to Colonel Nesmith Readiness Center in Dallas, Ore., designed by THA Architecture; Harmonie Hall in Kobe, Japan, designed by Takenaka Corp.; L-Shaped House in Hwaseong-si, South Korea, designed by BCHO Architects and Associates: and Washougal Incubator Block in Washougal, designed by Works Partnership Architecture.

The AIA Northwest and Pacific Region covers Alaska, Guam/Micronesia, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington, with ex-officio status given to AIA Hong Kong and Japan members.
