13 civic projects win AIA Washington awards

The AIA Washington Council recently honored 13 projects with its 2014 Civic Design Awards.

To be eligible, projects must either be designed by architects from Washington or be located in this state. The program received 43 submittals. There were three categories of awards: honor, merit and citation.

Projects were judged on design, utility, economy, environmental harmony, sustainability, accessibility, aesthetic delight, creativity, craftsmanship and innovation.

Ben Nielsen, Todd Horenstein and Joel Ing were on the jury.
