SEATTLE — Town Hall Seattle installed an induction loop system in its Great Hall and Downstairs to help people who are hard of hearing.
The loop is a copper wire laid under the carpet. It gives off an electromagnetic signal that can be picked up by wireless receiver technology in most hearing aids and in cochlear implants. The hearing devices receive only sounds coming from a microphone, not all the distracting background noises.
