SEATTLE — The Washington State Convention Center announced the team that will design the center's $750 million expansion.
The group includes LMN, Gustafson Guthrie Nichol and SHoP.
LMN will lead the team as the prime architect. GGN will be responsible for the urban design and landscape. New York City-based SHoP will assist with co-development planning.
The selection is pending the completion of contract negotiations.
The expansion would more than double the size of the center and will include 300,000 square feet of heavy-load exhibit space, 135,000 square feet of meeting space and an additional ballroom. The site is bounded by Pine, Howell, Ninth and Boren.
Construction is slated to begin in early 2017 and finish in 2020.
Pine Street Group LLC is the project manager.
The other finalists were ZGF/Populous and TVS/Callison.
