Seattle issues RFQ for restoring pergola

SEATTLE — The city is seeking a design-build team to restore the Washington Street Boat Landing pergola.

The 96-year-old structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It normally stands at the west end of South Washington Street in Pioneer Square, but it was removed in 2014 to prepare for the Elliott Bay seawall project. The pergola is being stored at Terminal 25.

The city issued a request for qualifications last week. Statements are due by 2 p.m. March 15 to City Purchasing and Contracting Services. See the public notice in the Feb. 1 DJC for details.

The estimated contract amount is $2 million to $2.1 million. Work will involve restoring, moving and reinstalling the pergola to its original location.

The city wants work to be done by the third quarter of 2017.
