Guild 45th may be city landmark

SEATTLE — The Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board will consider nomination of the Guild 45th Theatre at 2115 N. 45th St. as a city landmark on April 6 at 3:30 p.m. in room L280 of City Hall.

The theater in Wallingford was designed in the Mediterranean Revival style by Seattle architect George B. Purvis. It was built in 1920-1921, and was one of the city's earliest motion picture theaters, according to the nomination application prepared by ICF International.

National chain Landmark Theatres assumed operation of Guild 45th Theatre in 1989, and bought it in 1998.

Written comments should be received by April 5 at Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, P.O. Box 94649, Seattle, WA 98124-4649.

The nomination application is at http://tiny.cc/u4849x under “Current Nominations.”
