April 27, 2016
This month Redmond will start work on a 1.3-mile extension to the Central Connector Trail through downtown.
The addition will run parallel to Willows Road, from the Sammamish River trestle to the 9900 block of Willows Road, and will connect to Puget Sound Energy Trail. Completion is set for early 2017.
Crews will retrofit and add a deck to the railroad trestle over the river and retrofit the bridge over 154th Avenue Northeast. Landscaping, seating and art by Side Car Collective will be installed.
The trail will eventually be four miles on the former railroad corridor called Redmond Spur, going from the SR 520 interchange to the northern city limits.
The rail bed where the work is being done will be closed during construction.
