Seattle-based Jensen Maritime is providing design services on two escort tugs for McAllister Towing.
The 100-foot long, 40-foot wide tugs are being built at Horizon Shipbuilding in Bayou LaBatre, Alabama, and are scheduled for delivery in 2017.
The 12-knot, 6,770-horsepower Brian A. McAllister and Rosemary McAllister will be the 31st and 32nd ocean-going escort/rescue tugboats in the fleet. Jensen said they will be the first to use high-efficiency catalytic after-treatment technology to reduce emissions.
Jensen is a naval architecture and marine engineering firm owned by Crowley Maritime Corp.
