The apartment-style dorm will house about 350 people at JBLM.

Bernardo|Wills Architects and a joint venture of Garco Construction and Total Site Services will design and build a housing project at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

And Bernardo|Wills and Garco will design and build an administration building for the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Spokane-based Bernardo|Wills will also provide interior design on the projects, which are targeting LEED silver.

The $8.9 million WSDOT North Central Region Administration Facility in Wenatchee will start construction in March, and open in March of 2018.

The 30,000-square-foot, two-story building will consolidate several DOT facilities in the area, and house 130 employees. Private offices are planned as well as staff support space, conference rooms, break rooms, open office areas, project engineering offices with lockers and showers, and mechanical, electrical and communication rooms.

(Editor’s note: The story has been changed to correct the completion date and the number of staff in the building.)

The BCT Complex, Unaccompanied Enlisted Personnel Housing at Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma will start construction in March, and open in summer 2018.

The cost is $42.5 million for the 120,000-square-foot apartment-style dormitory designed in the base's “old fort” style. There will be four three-story buildings with two-bedroom units for about 350 people, along with a mailroom, laundry room and equipment storage.
