SEATTLE — The Seattle Design Commission will hold a meeting today to discuss public benefits the city could get from the Washington State Convention Center as part of its $1.6 billion expansion.
The meeting will run 9 a.m.-noon at Seattle City Hall, Room L280. Speakers will include representatives from Pine Street Group, LMN Architects and Gustafson Guthrie Nichol.
The WSCC wants the city to vacate three alleys and underground portions of Terry Avenue and Olive Way.
The project will pay for these rights of way and provide public benefits, including partial funding to study a lid for Interstate 5. Other public benefits could include public art, a night watch, connectivity improvements and affordable housing.
