The National Endowment for the Arts is giving Spaceworks Tacoma a $20,000 Art Works grant to commission site-specific installations and murals at vacant commercial spaces downtown.
It is one of 1,029 national grant recipients, chosen from 1,728 applications.
The grants of $10,000 to $100,000 are intended to engage the public, encourage lifelong learning in the arts and strengthen communities.
The $20,000 will support Spaceworks Artscapes, which commissions 24 artists a year to create public art.
