Go ‘behind-the-scenes' with ASLA Sept. 12

The West Studio was landscape architect for Plaza Roberto Maestas in Beacon Hill.

The American Society of Landscape Architects Washington Chapter hold a free event called “Landscape Architects Out-in-Front” from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at Centilia Cultural Center, 1660 S Roberto Maestas Festival St. in Seattle.

The event is part of the 2018 Seattle Design Festival. This year's theme is trust.

Design professionals will take participants behind the scenes of their projects, and talk about how the built environment influences trust. There will also be a happy hour.

The speakers are Audrey West of The West Studio, Craig Skipton of AHBL, Riisa Conklin of Freeway Park Association, Mark Brands and Brian Bishop of Site Workshop and Kiwon Suh, David Marshall and Mark Sindell of GGLO.

The West Studio was landscape architect for Plaza Roberto Maestas, a mixed-use low-income apartment complex in Beacon Hill. The transit oriented project is adjacent to Beacon Hill Light Rail Station.

The central plaza provides outdoor space for residents and the neighborhood.
