Film on architect Glenn Murcutt

Glenn Murcutt designed this mosque in Newport, Melbourne.

Space.City in partnership with SIFF will present a screening of “Glenn Murcutt; Spirit of Place” at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 and 26 at SIFF Film Center, 305 Harrison St.

The documentary explores the life and work of Australia's most internationally recognized architect.

The 2002 Pritzker prize winner literally put Australian architecture on the world map. The Pritzker jury described him as a modernist, a naturalist, an environmentalist, an economist, a humanist and ecologist.

His reputation rests on the beauty and integrity of his work, but he is an enigma. By choice he has never built outside his own country. He has no staff, and prefers to use pen or pencil and paper to design, rather than a computer.

A Skype Q&A with director Catherine Hunter will follow the Sept. 25 show.

Tickets are $14 at https://tinyurl.com/yaausezt/. Use promo code SPACE18 for $2 off.
