Wolters tapped for Renton post

RENTON -- The city of Renton today announced that Ben Wolters has been named economic development director. His salary will be $83,900.

He will start Jan. 5., and work under Alex Pietsch, administrator for the city's Department of Economic Development, Neighborhoods and Strategic Planning.

Wolters is charged with encouraging new business and fostering on-going development projects, including the redevelopment of surplus portions of the recently rezoned 280-acre Boeing Renton Plant, the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Renton, the 68-acre Port Quendall site and the Highlands neighborhood.

Wolters spent the past seven years with the city of Seattle's Office of Economic Development.
