TACOMA (AP) — Pierce County plans to ask other local governments and public agencies to help cover the cost of security for the U.S. Open in June 2015 at Chambers Bay Golf Course.
Deputy County Executive Kevin Phelps told the Lakewood City Council last week that the United States Golf Association expects local support for an event that will attract an estimated 235,000 people and a television audience that will introduce Chambers Bay and the region to a worldwide audience.
