Mayor proposes local hiring policy

SEATTLE — Mayor Ed Murray is expected to introduce a policy today that targets local hiring for city-funded construction projects.

The idea was proposed by a local environmental organization called Got Green. The policy would require a percentage of work hours to be allocated to workers from disadvantaged communities, such as Rainier Valley.
