Avoid layoffs, learn about 'shared work'

SEATTLE — If you're an employer facing a dip in business but don't want to lay off skilled employees, the state has a program that offers an alternative.

The Shared Work program allows employers to reduce work hours for permanent employees, and workers can collect partial unemployment benefits to replace a portion of their lost wages.
