Seattle water rates may rise in 2016-17

SEATTLE — Seattle Public Utilities is proposing drinking water rate increases of 1.7 percent for 2016 and 2.7 percent for 2017.

The utility chalks up the increases to updated inflation assumptions and new spending related to earthquake preparedness and threats from climate change.
