Art classes begin at Occidental Park

SEATTLE — A pilot program to enliven two downtown parks is revving up at Occidental Park this week.

Visitors can attend free art classes and hear live music. The first art class begins at 4 p.m. today.

The programming is supported by the city of Seattle, Path with Art, the Downtown Seattle Association and the Metropolitan Improvement District.

You can register for the art classes online at http://www.downtownseattleparks.com.

Other activities available at the park will include foosball, pingpong, a children's zone, reading rooms, evening movies, fitness classes and free chess tournaments.

Westlake Park is the other park taking part in the pilot program.
