OLYMPIA (AP) — Two health care systems have submitted separate plans to open psychiatric hospitals in Thurston County.
The Olympian reports that Providence Health & Services, working with Fairfax Behavioral Health, announced plans Wednesday to open an 85-bed psychiatric hospital. The announcement comes days after US HealthVest applied to build a 75-bed hospital in the county.
Providence and Fairfax have submitted a letter of intent to the state Department of Health. A certificate of need application, which would outline plans for the facility in greater detail, is expected to be submitted in May.
US HealthVest is holding public meetings about its project next week. Providence will likely schedule public meetings after its certificate of needs application.
