OLYMPIA (AP) — State Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn is suing seven of Washington's largest school districts, saying they are illegally using local property tax levies to supplement employee salaries that should by paid out of the state budget.
The News Tribune reports the state of Washington is a defendant in the suit filed Tuesday by Dorn, who is not seeking re-election this fall. The school districts named in the suit include Seattle, Spokane, Vancouver, Bellevue, Tacoma, Everett and Puyallup.
