Durkan establishes small biz council

SEATTLE — Mayor Jenny Durkan has signed an executive order establishing the city's first Small Business Advisory Council.

The council will provide input on the impact of city decisions, make policy recommendations and help small businesses, the city said in a press release.

Co-chairs are Joe Fugere, owner of Tutta Bella; Taylor Hoang, executive director of the Ethnic Business Coalition; Donna Moodie, owner of Marjorie Restaurant; and Tracy Taylor, manager of Elliott Bay Book Co.

Members will represent businesses of different sizes, industries and neighborhoods.

Seattle has about 36,500 businesses with fewer than 50 employees that employ nearly 200,000 people in the city.
