New recycling rule kicks in on Jan. 2

SEATTLE — King County is stepping up its efforts to boost recycling and composting at its solid waste transfer stations and drop boxes.

Starting Jan. 2, customers will be required to recycle cardboard, scrap metal, yard waste and clean wood. The idea is to keep that stuff out of the landfill.
