Renton names development director

RENTON -- Alex Pietsch has been named the city's new economic development director.

Pietsch's last position was with Seattle developer Wright Runstad & Co., where he was the marketing and public relations manager. He also worked for the Fearey Group, a Seattle-based public relations firm. Pietsch began his career in television news, working in Flagstaff, Ariz., Bishop, Calif., and most recently in Yakima, where he was a news anchor and reporter for KAPP, the local ABC affiliate, for five years.

In Renton, Pietsch's job will be to encourage new business and economic activity and foster ongoing development projects. He will lead the city's community marketing campaign, oversee its strategic planning and neighborhood programs, and coordinate state and federal legislative lobbying activities.
