In another sign of rough economic times, AGC of Washington had a record 168 people sign up to attend its annual federal projects outlook late last month. AGC officials said it was the largest crowd in the 10-year history of the event.
Most of the work — up to $1 billion worth — for the next three years will come from the Seattle District of the Army Corps of Engineers. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest has about $600 million in projects planned, the National Park Service has $84 million, and the Coast Guard has $35 million. Two other agencies at the event, General Services Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration, have no new projects in their pipelines.
