LeMay — America's Car Museum was one of the 26 winning projects of the 22nd Annual Tilt-Up Achievement Awards. The Tacoma museum was the only project in the Northwest to earn an award from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association.

The awards program was established by TCA to honor projects that represent an increasing diversity of building types constructed with site-cast tilt-up concrete. Projects were judged on aesthetics, schedule, size, originality, finishes and special conditions.

The LeMay project was submitted for the award by Puyallup-based SAK & Associates, which performed the concrete work as a subcontractor to JTM Construction.

At 169,000 square feet, the museum has 15 galleries, a theater, cafe, banquet hall, gift store, meeting rooms, an education center, library and space for up to 500 cars. It was designed by Grant Price Architects.

Other team members were: Magnusson Klemencic Associates, structural/civil engineer; PSF Mechanical, mechanical contractor; Holmes Electric, electrical contractor; Western Wood Structures, wood roof; Architectural Metal Works and Interstate Roofing Co., metal roof; and Blue Sky Landscape Services, landscaping.
