Group Health Puyallup Medical Center

Group Health Cooperative has opened a new medical center in the South Hill Business and Technology Center at 1007 39th Ave. S.E. in Puyallup.

The 50,000-square-foot, two-story center was designed in a lodge style, and is set in a wooded area in South Hill.

Everything in the medical center, from the location of the exam room doors to the way that patients access the lab, was analyzed in a year-long design process that involved architects, contractors, patients, staff and medical providers.

The floor plan for the primary care clinic is composed of “pods.” Each exam room has two entrances, one for patients and one for staff. The adjoining staff work space allows teams to work side-by-side.

The center is pursuing LEED Gold for Healthcare. It uses wood harvested from trees on site as benches and finishings. The building also has high-efficiency mechanical systems and a green roof to reduce run-off.
