Contractors drew up a fast-track schedule to renovate a former Masins store for office use.

Masins office build-out

Location: Seattle

General contractor: W.G. Clark Construction

Owner/developer: Masin Properties

Primary designer: Kovalenko Hale Architects

This project converted retail space to office use in an early 20th-century heavy-timber structure with four stories plus a basement. It was completed on a fast-track schedule that required complex scheduling and strong communications among the team members.

Two of the building’s new tenants were school-related and had classes starting soon, so meeting the schedule was critical.

Working from just four pages of preliminary design drawings, W.G. Clark quickly assembled a team with expertise in renovations, developed a conceptual budget, and assembled a fast-track schedule to integrate design and construction activities to meet the tenant’s requirements for move-in and operations startup.

The owner praised the W.G. Clark team, saying they “worked miracles to finish on time — we truly made the right choice in selecting W.G. Clark to do the job!”
